Ho! Ho! Hum-bug!

Every year it's the same ole' thing. After we have slept off our turkey induced comas, the boys and I wake up and we are ready to go! But, Jeremy dreads the day after Thanksgiving. He knows that all the Christmas decorations are coming down from the attic and his own personal pergatory is here. He cannot stand, no, he loathes hanging my Christmas lights. Yes, I said "my" lights. Because he could care less if they were there or not. Every year he hangs the icicle lights. A few years ago, he even wired electrical outlets in all the window dormers, put several in the overhang of the roof and at each end of the porch, just to make the process of plugging them in easier. He spends most of the day on the roof, fussing about how many of the stupid lights have gone out since last year and how it's too freakin' bad, but he's not gonna do it again this year. Blah, Blah, Blah. My sweet, nearly perfect, husband has done it for me again:) Last year we ( I mean "I") added inflatables to the mix. They are great to look at. But don't ask Mr. Scrooge how they are to put up. (He actually said Hum-bug after he said he hated Christmas today! Seriously!) The first half of the day he was on the roof, after lunch he was in the yard trying to get a gazillion tiny styrofoam beads of "snow" to blow in a snowglobe and various other tasks I tried to ignore while I put the garland on the porch rails. I know, hard work for me too, right? Anyway, this is my tribute to my wonderful, amazing, rarely grumbling, nearly perfect husband. I love him so very much and I am so thankful that I have him! I promise he won't have to hang anymore lights. Until next year...

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Yesterday for Thanksgiving, we went to Jeremy's aunt & uncle's house for lunch. The boys had fun playing with their cousins (all girls) on the trampoline, in the tree house and the best of all: picking up pecans! Seriously! Avery walked around with a pecan-picker-upper (who really knows what that thing is called?!) for a very long time. Riley and Porshia mostly ate them. We left there at 3:30, got home at 4:22pm, and were out the door to go to my parents' house by 4:30! LONG day! We went over there for supper. More turkey, ham, and most importantly, Dad's yeast rolls! Yummy!!! Everything was so crazy busy yesterday, I forgot to tell my family how very thankful I am to have them. i feel so blessed to have the life that I have. I complain (a LOT) about how hard my days seem to be sometimes. But I truly am grateful to be the mommy of three precious little boys and the wife of a very patient and understanding man. My Baby Played Paintball!!!

Today was a big first for Riley. Jeremy took him to play paintball for the first time!!! I set a lot of rules (i.e. "Don't leave him alone", "Make sure he doesn't get shot", etc.). Of course, I wasn't there, so all the rules were broken. And Riley had the time of his life! Jeremy is so proud of him. He says he is so surprised how Ry jumped right in and played with the "big boys". He has no fear, and is proud of every shot (and hit!)that he took. He can't wait til the next time. Jeremy has come to the unsettling realization that now the cost of paintball will double. Riley really likes to shoot!!!

My Heaven on Earth...

Most everyone that knows me knows how much I worry about the academic futures of my children. Reading has never come easy for Riley, and even after several (Fabulous!) tutors, he still struggles. Tuesday, we decided to go to Mooresville to let the boys "browse" for Christmas gifts. We were waiting for Jeremy to get home and I was cleaning the kitchen. I turned around to see "Heaven on Earth". Riley was reading! On his own, I didn't have to order him to do it, beg or plead. He wanted to! He has now read an entire series of these books and is reading just to be reading!!! Who knows how long it will last, but for now, I am one happy mommy!!

Halloween

I just realized I haven't posted the Halloween pics of the boys. They had a lot of fun trick-or-treating with all of their cousins. The candy haul was ridiculous!! It's still hanging around, too! Nearly 2 weeks later! Next year, maybe we'll hit a few less houses! We also made a haunted gingerbread house, that according to Riley, tastes like cardboard! Needless to say, after a few bites, I tossed the whole thing in the trash!
